CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences unites ten leading European higher education institutions in the social sciences, humanities, business management and public policy, with a total of 72,000 students & PhDs and 13,000 academic staff.

Together, we build on an ever-stronger combination of education, research & innovation, and civic outreach to develop the European university of the future: grounded in excellent teaching and learning, offering seamless mobility, contributing innovative solutions to societal challenges, and creating a path for other universities to follow.

CIVICA was selected in 2019 by the European Commission as one of the pilot European Universities, funded under the Erasmus+ programme. After a 3-year pilot phase, CIVICA was selected in July 2022 to receive further support from Erasmus+ for the following four years (2022-2026). Additionally, the alliance receives complementary support through various schemes at both national and transnational levels.

As a European University of Social Sciences, our key ambition is to serve European societies and educate the next generations of Europeans.

We are building an innovative university model that places our communities of students & researchers at its heart, and branches out to NGOs, businesses, policymakers, the civil society, and other entities outside academia.

CIVICA embodies the European idea in its purest form: "United in diversity."

  • Amnesia
    High Accuracy Data Anonymization
Amnesia modifies personal and sensitive information, eliminates any data privacy breach and exposure of sensitive information. Installed, configured and embedded locally in research operational workflows, it processes and stores files adapting to different needs and dataflows. It uses a variety of algorithms, pseudonymization, k-anonymity and km-anonymity guarantees and demographic statistics to reduce information loss. Amnesia is written in Java and is available to be downloaded for Linux/Windows OS.

    Argos
Plan your data management: Create, link and share Data Management Plans
ARGOS is a service that guides researchers through the creation process of a data management plan to submit to research funders, a requirement for Horizon Europe and national funding programs. The templates are up to date on the cloud and address specific funding requirements based on funders DMP templates. Researchers can easily and without prior knowledge, find the right template, start editing it by following the step-by-step guidance from ARGOS, save it, enrich, and co-edit with colleagues, and finally, share it openly with a DOI assigned to it. Your DMP will be based on standards and FAIR principles, be readable by humans and machines, making it fully interoperable. ARGOS saves you time and effort to create, craft and shape a DMP efficiently, so that you can focus on your research.

    Zenodo
    Research. Shared.
Zenodo is a general purpose repository that enables researchers, scientists, projects and institutions to share, preserve and showcase multidisciplinary research results (data, software, publications, and other research objects) that are not part of the existing institutional or subject-based repositories of the research communities. It is founded in the trustoworthy CERN data centre and enables everyone to participate in Open Science. Used by more than 200K researchers and 7K communities all over the world.

How? It's about open data and collaboration

This gateway is built on the OpenAIRE Graph, one of the largest open scholarly record collections worldwide. Conceived as a public and transparent good, populated out of data sources trusted by scientists, the OpenAIRE Graph brings discovery, monitoring, and assessment of science back in the hands of the scientific community.
      Graph nodes
Within a constantly emerging scholarly communication environment, the OpenAIRE Graph is a moving target, continuously integrating new sources, new types of research objects, and embedding impact and usage indicators. We therefore welcome the community to work with us to improve all its aspects: its coverage (geographic and thematic), quality (disambiguation and semantics) and access (APIs).
